We finally made it to Mt. Rushmore! We arrived a little later than we planned.
It was an awesome sight!
We brought the wind with us from Wyoming.
We ate dinner there in an impressively-sized eating hall.
We stayed for the night program and the lighting ceremony. First they called down all the veterans and active duty military. Christian is 9th from the right. It was SO windy that the Scout Troop, who had come all the way from Minnesota to raise the flag, couldn't get the flag up. They just decided to cut the program short and light the monument.
We explored some of the museums that evening. Gutzon Borglum is the artist who is the creative mind behind the monument.
