We took a fun horse-drawn wagon ride around Historic Nauvoo. This was a great way to see the sites. We learned a lot from the missionary driver. One new thing we learned that the Mississippi was much narrower back then and he showed us an area that resembled what the land actually looked like at this time and how the swampy areas needed to not only be drained, but the trees and bushes all needed clearing as well, in order to build the town.
The temple is always a beautiful site to behold.
After the ride, the kids enjoyed petting the horses while they rested.
The pioneer play area was fun for the kids.
The boys enjoyed the gunsmith.
They used this box to shod the oxen hooves.
Aleya is excited to go to school.
This little schoolhouse was actually FUN to go to. Check out the spelling on the wall.
We visited the graves of Joseph, Emma, and Hyrum Smith.
The cemetery has a beautiful view of the Mississippi.
Joseph's parents, Joseph Senior and Lucy Mack, were also buried here.
We like to take pictures in front of all the temples we visit.
These statues were new since we had been here eight years ago. They depict Joseph and Hyrum leaving Nauvoo for the last time.
We saw a nice musical put on by the entertaining missionaries.
We went to the "Sunset on the Mississippi" show again to finally see the WHOLE show.
At the end of the evening we were treated to Vocal Pointe, from BYU.
