4th Grade Auction Project

Orrin's teacher, Mrs. Cameron, gave her students all directed draw instructions for various animals and had them paint on fabric. The outcome was a masterpiece! I wish I had her talent! Orrin painted a cheetah.

School Art Auction Project-2nd Grade

For Amara's 2nd grade class, we made stepping stones for some of the holidays we celebrate each school year.

Each group made the pattern of gems for their stepping stone.

Next, I set the gems in the wet concrete, let it set up, and then cleaned up the GIGANTIC mess I made. I won't be doing this again for a LONG TIME.

Here's my practice stones . . . which Aleya got into with her little fingers, fishing out the gems. The one on the left is supposed to be an "SP" for San Pasqual,with a Fleur de lis. The right one represents the rainbows we see frequently in our little valley during the rainy season.

Cub Scout Rocket Shoot 2010

There's no question that this was the most exciting and fun Cub Scout activity we have ever been involved in: a rocket shoot! It was held in the backyard of President Marler's house. They also roasted hot dogs over a fire pit for lunch.

They must have launched over 20 rockets. Each one was as explosive and exciting as the last one. We recovered nearly all the rockets except two . . . one landing in a treetop and one landed in another neighborhood . . . way over the hill.

Orrin prepares to launch his first rocket.

Lucky for Orrin, his landed nearby so he could retrieve it.

The kids began to engage in a lemon war until some of the adults spoiled all the fun and said they had to stop.

Aleya had a fun day, as well, at the rocket shoot. We hope they'll keep doing this every year.

Christmas Cookies in February?

Christmas Cookies in February? Why not! They still taste delicious! Amara and her friend, Lea, thought it would be a fun idea. I thought so, too.

Aleya with her friend, Eliza.

I regret that Aleya doesn't get to play with friends her age very much. Lately, we've been trying to get together with her friend, Eliza, at the park. Eliza has been her friend at church.

Happy Birthday Orrin! 10 years old.

Orrin was excited to receive a new suit for his birthday.

He also enjoyed his other gifts.

Mom threw together a Guitar Hero cake for Orrin.

I think he liked it.

Putting on the whole Armor of God

Our family had another lesson on putting on the whole Armor of God from Ephesians 6. Each of the children took turns putting it on. Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole aarmour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we awrestle not bagainst cflesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the drulers of the edarkness of this world, against spiritual fwickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins agirt about with btruth, and having on the cbreastplate of drighteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of apeace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of afaith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery bdarts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of asalvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 aPraying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all bperseverance and supplication for all saints;
